I’ve been to Color Coat several times before and always had great experiences, which is why I kept coming back. I’ve had detailed nail designs done here that turned out amazing, so I expected the same level of care and quality. Sadly, this last visit felt nothing like that it kind of gave more chop shop vibes. I only came in for a Gel X removal and a simple red polish. Somehow even that went sideways. When I noticed a black speck on one nail, I pointed it out. Instead of actually fixing it properly, the tech just took a cuticle tool, chopped at it, and left a dent that she didn’t smooth out. On top of that, the polish application was sloppy. The corners and edges of my nails weren’t even painted, like she just swiped the middle and called it done. It looks unfinished, and not at all like something you’d expect from a professional salon. Afterward, she told me to wait 10 minutes for them to dry. I waited more than 20 because I didn't want to risk messing them up and annoy the tech more than what she already was when I did nothing wrong but sit in her chair. No one came to check on me like they usually do. When I finally got up, to check out the same tech that did my nails checked me out and I mentioned that the nail she had “fixed” was still messed up. Instead of offering to fix it or apologize, she hit me with, “Are you gonna tip?” My jaw literally dropped. I’ve always tipped cash here, but that moment made it clear she didn’t care about the service or the result just the money. When I said, “You want me to tip even though my nails are still messed up?” she shrugged it off, told me I didn’t have to, and walked away angrily. To top it all off, it hasn’t even been 24 hours and the polish is already chipping. I walked in hoping for a quick, simple service and to leave feeling good about my nails. Instead, I walked out feeling like I’d wasted my time and money at a place that didn’t care about quality or the customer experience.

I’ve been going to the Selma location for the past 4 months and this is one of the best nail salons I’ve been to in LA! The service and hospitality is top notch everyone is so sweet and accommodating. I always go to Cadie and she does the best nail art designs! I started doing GelX extensions again which I was weary of because they usually only last a week on me. I have thin, flat nail beds so they’re always lifting. But since Cadie has been doing them, they’ve been lasting 4 weeks which is crazy to me! The pics are my nails after 4 weeks and they’re all still intact and the design looks shiny and beautiful. The prices here are also very reasonable and transparent when you book on their website.

Gah wish I had a better experience here today. Five hours after getting my gel mani, it has already started to chip. The french chrome also shows black in some parts, and the glitter has bled. The customer service wasn’t great. After I showed the nail tech my reference photo, I was given a price of $83. An hour later, the nail tech informed me the price had changed to $103. The receptionist translated her claim that I had asked for the hard gel, which I did not. They said it was a misunderstanding, but since the hard gel was already completed, I would need to pay the $103. Frustrated, I downgraded my designs to a chrome french tip to cut my costs to $90. It all left a sour taste in my mouth. I have been here twice before and had a great experience (thus the three stars) and the other reviews are glowing so hopefully this was just an off day for them, but I am not likely to return. I’ve been coming here since they opened and I recommend this place to all of my friends who are looking to get their nails done. Appointments are easy to book, there is a parking garage which makes parking a breeze, and it’s a big bright space with comfy seating. They always have good music playing and offer refreshment drinks. Wide selection of colors including their jelly, sheets, cat eye & chrome color selection. I always leave happy and this time I am just beaming with how amazing my nails look. Thank you Cadie🥰

My boyfriend and I recently visited Color Coat and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. He needed a pedicure, and I treated myself to both a Gel-X set and a Luxe Pedicure. Peter did an amazing job on my nails — the Gel-X with pearl chrome turned out absolutely beautiful! For the pedicures, we were taken care of by Nancy and Bibi, and they were both fantastic. We got the Luxe pedicures and felt totally pampered the entire time. They were meticulous with every step — from the nail shaping to the callus treatment and massage, everything was done with care and attention to detail. Our feet feel incredibly refreshed, and my toes turned out so nice and polished. The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. We both left feeling like we’d had a real treat. Highly recommend!
